General information:
A component of drilling fluids that improves their lubricating properties. Emulic LUB 1 is a mixture of fatty acid derivatives, surfactants and high-pressure and anti-wear additives. The product is easily biodegradable and is not classified as hazardous according to REACH and CLP.

Properties:
Microemulsions obtained with Emulic LUB 1 are stable, even in high brine concentrations. Lubricating properties measured with the EP Tester FANN device for a working fluid prepared with Emulic LUB 1 are as follows:
• the coefficient of friction for water at a pressure of 150 lbin at 60 rpm is 0.09
• the pressure force at which scuffing occurs for water is 550 lbin.

Application:
Emulic LUB 1 at an addition of 0.1% by volume reduces the coefficient of friction of tap water from 0.41 to 0.09.
Addition of the product to drilling fluid causes a reduction in torque, a reduction in the coefficient of friction and in pulling of drill pipe, especially in directional and curved holes.
